Sparta man charged with third degree sexual assault
Israel J.R. Wikkerink, 22, of Sparta was charged in Monroe County Circuit Court with third degree sexual assault as domestic abuse, two counts of felony bail jumping, two counts of disorderly conduct as domestic abuse and false imprisonment as domestic abuse.
According to the complaint, on August 12, a female entered the Sparta Police Department requesting to speak with an officer in reference to some issues she was having with Wikkerink. The victim told officers that since May 2018, Wikkerink had allegedly become progressively more aggressive.
She said when Wikkerink becomes angry he allegedly holds his hands along his sides, making fists and she is fearful that he is going to hit her.
The victim reported the couple had gotten into an argument that morning when Wikkerink allegedly cornered her by the door. She said she tried to leave and he reportedly put his arm on the door to push it closed so she couldn’t exit.
Wikkerink allegedly was yelling profanities at her when he balled up his fists. She took that opportunity to open the door and quickly ran out.
The victim also told officers that earlier that week, Wikkerink had allegedly forced his way into the bathroom, grabbed her and shoved his hand up her shirt, making skin to skin contact. She said he wouldn’t let her push him off until he did eventually let go of her.
Wikkerink reportedly denied yelling or throwing anything and that he was baffled as to why police were contacted. He allegedly admitted he and the victim had fights but nothing loud and the neighbors have never complained.
As a result of the investigation, Wikkerink was arrested for false imprisonment, felony bail jumping and thrid degree sex assault. A $2,500 signature bond was set.
In December 2018, Wikkerink was charged with two counts of 1st degree sexual assault of a child without great bodily harm, repeated sexual assault of the same child, four counts of 2nd degree sexual assault of a child and attempted 2nd degree sexual assault of a child in an unrelated incident.
Monroe County Human Services reported information that a 12-year-old female had stated Wikkerink had sexually assaulted her when she was between 5-or 6-years-old.
Wikkerink is scheduled for an initial appearance on Sept. 23 at 10 a.m. in front of Judge Richard Radcliffe.
