Charles “Chuck” William Tester
Charles “Chuck” William Tester, age 72, of Tomah, lost his battle with lung cancer and passed away on September 30th, 2015. Charles was born to Milton and Mable (Pfaff) Tester on September 29th, 1943, in Madison Wisconsin. Charles graduated from Sun Prairie High School in Sun Prairie Wisconsin in 1961. Charles joined the Navy right out of High school in 1961 where he served his country, stationed on the battleship, USS O’Brien until September of 1964. After serving his country, Charles worked for the City of Sun Prairie between 1964 and 1972 in the maintenance department before accepting a position with the Sun Prairie Police Department as a part time Police Officer. Charles applied for and was accepted into the Wisconsin State Patrol Academy on April 3rd, 1972. He graduated from the academy on August 25th, 1972 and was assigned to the District 5 headquarters in Tomah in where he proudly served the community as a Trooper for the Wisconsin State Patrol until he retired in 1998, serving 26 years in Law Enforcement.
Charles enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting and woodworking. Charles was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and had attended several of the home games with his brother, Fred from Hawaii.
Charles is survived by his wife, Cindy Sue, his three children, Clayton Tester (Fiancée Jaimie Zimmerman) of Wilton Wisconsin, Christine Rued (Tester) of St. Paul, Minnesota, Carrie (Scott) Johnson of West Salem, Wisconsin, two step daughters, Angela Legault of Madison Wisconsin and Cathrine Legault (Tyler Melteson) of Madison Wisconsin, 8 grandchildren, Krystal (Fiancé Ben Reed), Megan (Brent Ustby), Courtney and Ashley Tester, Cole, Connor and Jenna Rued, and Ellie Slotten, 4 step grandchildren, Anna and Abby Johnson and Makayla and Brady Zimmerman, 2 great grandchildren, Charlei and Braxton, 1 sister, Mary Wilson of Sun Prairie and 2 brothers, Fred Tester of Hawaii and Stanley Tester of Arizona and many nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Milton and Mabel Tester and one sister-in-law Char Tester. Charles was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
Charles was cremated and a celebration of his life with his family and friends will take place on October 24th at the Colonial Bowling and Banquet Hall from 2pm to 6pm.
