LEOLA A. “DOT” HUTSON
March 8, 1925—June 6, 2017
Leola A. “Dot” Hutson passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Plantation South in Dunwoody, Georgia, where she had lived the past two years, at the age of 92.
Dot was born March 8, 1925, the daughter of Walter and Alice (Wegner) Jenkins in Sparta, Wisconsin. She married Gordon Hutson October 16, 1948. They lived in La Crosse and Sparta, Wisconsin, raising sons Brian and Kenneth. Dot managed Neumode Hosiery and worked at Dodge and Davis Department Store before retiring in 1987. She was active in the Sparta United Methodist Church, Sparta Lioness Club, and the West Beaver Creek community.
Dot enjoyed bingo, card games, dancing with Gordon, gardening, cooking, and entertaining family and friends. Dot and Gordon bought a home in Polo Park East in Davenport, Florida in 1996, where they enjoyed golfing in their Green Bay Packer golf cart and socializing with other retirees. Since 2015 they had resided at Plantation South in Dunwoody, Georgia.
She is survived by son, Kenneth; granddaughter, Sara Hutson; brothers, Harley and Harold “Chippy” (Markya) Jenkins; sisters, Shirley (Ken) Snow, Carole (Lawrence) Ruedy, Betty (Loren) Kirkeeng; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon; her son, Brian; an infant daughter, Mary Ann; her brothers, Cleo and Francis Jenkins; and sisters, Alberta Rommel and Bernice Baumbach.
A memorial service will be held at 11 o’clock a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017, at the Sparta United Methodist Church in Sparta, Wisconsin, with inurnment at Mount Hope Cemetery in Sparta, Wisconsin.
