Lady Timberwolves win second in a row
Tomah used a balanced scoring attack to pick up its second straight win with a 60-38 thumping of Menomonie in its girls basketball home opener Friday night.
The Lady Timberwolves opened up a 30-20 lead over the Mustangs at the half and used a 30-18 run in the second half to pull away for the easy win.
Madison Lindauer and Emma Liek knocked down 19 and 14 points, respectively, to lead Tomah on the offensive end of the hardwood, while Reis Derousseau finished with nine points.
In addition, Mallory Pierce added an eight-point effort for the Lady Timberwolves, followed by Lindsey Conway with four, Madisyn Brey with three, Ella Plueger with two and Abby Wagenson with one.
University of Minnesota-Mankato recruit Tyra Boettcher finished with 19 points to lead Menomonie, which fell to 0-1 with the loss.
Tomah improved to 2-0 with the nonconference victory over the Mustangs.
The Lady Timberwolves are back in action Tuesday, when they travel to Black River Falls to take on the Tigers in a 7:30 p.m. nonconference contest at Black River Falls Field House.
